Christmas Greetings

Christmas 2020 will be memorable one way or another and we trust that you will still be able to celebrate despite what has been a challenging year.

Jesus still came, became flesh and took the form of a baby, still giving us a reason to give thanks and celebrate Christmas. Presents may be ordered directly to people’s homes, food shopping may be done online, family gatherings may be through technology but God is still with us (Emmanuel) and the truth of the gospel is still true today as it has ever been.

I know it has not been an easy year for us all and some more so than others but I pray that His peace will fill our homes and that the Joy of the Lord will be our strength this Christmas.

I want to take a moment to remember those who have passed away this year, especially our dear sister Tracy who we miss very much. We thank God for her life and ask the Lord to comfort and strengthen her husband Brian and the family during this time.

I am so thankful for this wonderful church community and for the ways in which people have shown generosity, kindness, compassion to one another and to those in Stirchley and the surrounding areas.

We might have had to adjust to doing our Sunday services online but the church clearly hasn’t closed as connections have continued prayer meetings, Bible studies, socials, youth, outreach, life groups have kept going due to the faithfulness and flexibility of each of you.

I am not sure what is on the top of your Christmas list (if you still do one) but may God's presence and power be evident in you over the festive season. Whatever you are praying for, may you grow in awareness of God's goodness in your life.

I would encourage us all to take a moment at some point and give thanks; for something or for someone that God has blessed us with this year.
